The Shariah Supervisory Committee ("SSC") has specific responsibilities for monitoring the activities of Principle Insurance Holdings Limited to ensure that they abide with Shariah principles.

The SSC's role includes reviewing all appropriate contracts and agreements relating to the group's transactions. It will issue an annual statement, to be included within the annual report, confirming compliance with Shariah principles throughout the year.

The individuals who comprise SSC are:

Shaikh Nizam Yaquby is based in Bahrain and is an active participant in many Shariah committees in regional and international financial institutions including, among others, HSBC Amanah, Citi Islamic Investment Bank, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.

Dr. Mohammad Elgari is based in Saudi Arabia. Among others, he is on the Shariah committee of Deutsche Bank, HSBC Amanah, and Al Jazira Bank.

Mufti Abdul Kader Barkatullah, our third Shariah committee member, is based in the UK. He is also a member of the Shariah committee of Islamic Bank of Britain and Arab Banking Corporation.
